Historic Parramatta, once the alternative country seat of government 200 years ago. There are many surviving historical colonial buildings. Australia's oldest surviving building, Elizabeth Farm, built in 1793 is open for viewing. Old Government House and Experiment Farm Cottage, Tudor Gate House, Lancer Barracks, Regimental Museum Linden House, are worth a visit.
Parramatta became the first farm settlement soon after the First Fleet of convicts arrived from England in 1788. In a long list of firsts, the region went on to establish Australia's first orchard, vineyard, tannery, woollen and steam mills, market place and fair.
Visitors can now enjoy a rapid 'Rivercat' linking Parramatta to Circular Quay in Sydney. Rosehill racecourse is nearby. Parramatta is the perfect base for day trips into the Blue Mountains. Visit the Riverside Theatres and Rosehill Gardens. For something different tour the cemetery at night on a Whispering Bones torchlight tour. Dine in one of the street cafes on Church Street, or stroll the Riverside walk way. And of course, the central City is just a short distance away with something for everyone.

How To Get There:

From Central Sydney, take the Western Distibutor 4.5km to City West Link Rd at Rozelle. Continue 3km to Haberfield and turn right onto the Great Western Highway for 14km into Parramatta. Turn right into Connell Street, right into Victoria Road and left into Church Street. Turn right into Pennant Hills Road and left into Castle St. Bellevue Street is the next right turn.
