Set inland from Cairns and nestled in a pocket of rainforest, Yungaburra is a pretty, picturesque heritage-listed village 720m above sea level on the Atherton Tablelands. Only about an hour's drive inland from Cairns, Yungaburra is in the heart of a wonderland of lakes, waterfalls, rainforest and peaceful, rural dairy farms.
Within minutes of Yungaburra you can see splendid rainforest giants like the Curtain Fig tree, Cathedral Fig, 1100 year old twin Kauris and the giant red cedar tree. Waterfalls are numerous and excellent swimming, lake tours and water sports are available at Lake Eacham, Lake Tinaroo and Lake Barrine.
The Atherton Tablelands also known as the Cairns Highlands are also famous for caving, hot air ballooning, coffee tasting, bushwalking, water sports, museums, art galleries, nature tours, arts and crafts, steam trains and antiques.
On the 4th Saturday morning of every month, the Yungaburra Market is held in the main park opposite the Lake Eacham Hotel, from 07:30AM to 12:30PM. The Yungaburra Markets are the regions largest and boasts some 320 regular stallholders. Make sure you book your accommodation at Kookaburra Lodge well in advance for Market Days.
Yungaburra is a major meeting point for Atherton Tablelands artists and musicians, and as such it has several art and craft galleries and displays. Yungaburra boasts outstanding restaurants, all have magnificent dishes which capitalise on Yungaburra's idyllic position in the farming community of the Atherton Tablelands. All restaurants use local produce, and have friendly local staff.

How To Get There:

Yungaburra is aproximately an hour's drive inland from Cairns, North Queensland.
From Cairns: Take the Gillies Highway to Yungaburra, keep the pub on your left, take the left turn past the pub and travel up to the roundabout. Kookaburra Lodge Motel is on your right.
